6 Simple Steps to Start the Day Right

How did you start your day today? Did you wake up with gentle rays of sunlight peeking through your curtains and the sound of birds singing, or were you greeted by a cacophony of blaring alarms and an Olympic-level snooze-button battle? Did you start your day with a triumphant “I got this!” or more of a “Oh no, not again!”?

If, like us you fell out of bed in a grump after losing the fight with the snooze button, discovered there was no milk, the coffee machine had decided to go on strike, and you realised you were running late for an important meeting, then it probably wasn’t the best start to the day.

Starting the day on the right foot is so crucial. It sets the tone for everything that follows, whether it’s productivity, positivity, or simply surviving the daily rollercoaster with a smile. Starting the day with intention and purpose, instead of being a shambolic calamity like we are, allows us to cultivate a clear mind, boost our energy levels, and enhance our focus. It creates a sense of accomplishment and empowerment, instilling a positive mindset that carries us through challenges. Ultimately, starting the day the right way paves the path for a fulfilling and productive day ahead.

So, if like us, you would like to establish a better morning routine to start your day off on the right foot, here are a few tips to help you get started:

1. Plan ahead: Decide what you want to do in the morning and make a plan for how you will accomplish it. This might include setting out your clothes the night before, preparing breakfast, or making a to-do list for the day.

2. Wake up early: Try waking up early, even if it’s just 15-30 minutes earlier than usual. This will give you more time to complete your morning routine and start your day off in a calm and relaxed way.

3. Hydrate: Start your day with a glass of water to hydrate your body after a night’s sleep.

4. Incorporate exercise or stretching: Consider adding some physical activity, such as stretching or a quick workout to your morning routine to energise your body.

5. Avoid technology: Avoid checking your phone, social media, or email until after you’ve completed your morning routine, as this can cause stress and distract you from your goals.

6. Stick to it: Be consistent with your morning routine, even on weekends or when you’re traveling. This will help you establish a healthy habit and start your day off on a positive note.

We hope these tips help you to start the day in a great frame of mind – we are certainly going to try them out. Not sure if we can break our relationship with the snooze button though! That might be a step too far …
