No doubt you’ll have rolled your eyes upon reading the title of today’s blog. Maybe you’ve thought, ‘oh no, not more of this hippy dippy mumbo jumbo’. The practice of manifestation seems to be popping up everywhere at the moment, particularly in the bestseller lists. I’ll bet at least one of your friends has a book on the subject.
You might have heard them extoll the benefits of manifestation or claim that they have manifested a new job or new house. The idea that they’ve asked the universe for something and then just had it handed to them might make you scoff. The question is, does it really work?
First of all, we need to address what manifestation actually is because in reality it’s more than just thinking your way to getting what you want. Manifestation is about adopting a positive mindset and then using that positivity to kickstart your motivation and drive, very much in the same way as the ‘Little Train That Could’ who gets himself up the hill by repeating the mantra, ‘I think I can, I think I can, I think I can’.
The act of changing your mindset can really make a difference to how you perceive yourself and help you to achieve your goals. Being optimistic about achieving what you want, can help to propel you towards getting what you want. That’s really how it works. Not magic, just simple psychology. So what do we have to do to start the process of manifestation?

Start With Your Goals
What is it that you want? What’s your greatest desire? Is it to change your job, start your own business or maybe even retire early? Do you want to lose weight, get fit or move into your dream house?
If you want to start working towards achieving your goals then the first thing you need to do is to define them. Make a list of all the things you want in life. Make multiple lists if you need to – one for your career, one for your personal life, things you want to do, places you want to go etc.
Then have a look at your list(s) and put a potential time you want to achieve it against each item. Turn your list(s) into a timeline for success. Be realistic with yourself but most importantly, you are now making each item a target for you to achieve, a goal that you will begin working towards – you are making each item on that list a possibility rather than a dream.

Make a Vision Board
It might sound like a daft art project but making a vision board is a good way for you to see yourself accomplishing your dreams and get you one step closer to achieving them. Cut up magazines, find photos of your past achievements, have a Google and print out words and pictures that resonate with you and represent the goals that you want to achieve. Then stick them all on to a board or a pin-board and hang it somewhere you can look at it everyday.
Being able to look at your goals in reality rather than just in your head is the first step to training your brain to become more optimistic and positive. It can also help you to stay on track with working towards achieving all of the things that matter to you.

Mantras and Meditation
Practicing positive mantras and intentions is another great way to train your brain to be more positive and productive. Starting the day with a positive intention like, ‘It’s been a tough week but I’m going to have a good day’ can help you to trick your brain into willing tou do just that – you’ve acknowledged that the week has been tough but you have set your intent for the day. Repeating positive mantras such as, ‘I am capable and confident and worthy of achieving my goal’ can also help to get your brain on the right track and stop any negative thought patterns.
As well as mantras, practicing visualisation meditation can also help to get you on the fast track to making your dreams a reality. Spending some time each day picturing yourself achieving your goals can work wonders. Simply close your eyes and imagine what your life looks like once all your goals have come to fruition.
What does it look like? How do you feel? What’s your life like? What’s your daily routine? Once you’ve seen it all in your mind’s eye, ask yourself what other steps you can take to start making that dream life a reality. Then put them into action.

Practice Gratitude
As you work towards making a new life for yourself, it’s important not to lose sight of all the good things you already have in your life. Practicing gratitude on a regular basis can help you to realise all of the things that you have already accomplished so that you can celebrate your achievements. On a daily basis, write down three good things that have happened and reflect on them. This is a great way to keep track of your progress everyday and boost your mood as well.
We hope that this blog has opened your eyes to the art of manifestation. Remember, it’s not magic, it’s about training your brain to think in a positive way so that you can achieve your goals and create the life you want. Everything good in this world takes work to achieve, there are no quick fixes or short cuts but a positive mindset is a good place to start.
